The 85ft' Luxury liveaboard Golden Dawn has a firmly established reputation for providing some of the best quality diving experiences in Papua New Guinea. Adventurous divers explore the most northern and the most southern reef systems in the country while relaxing in the comfort and safety of the ultimate liveaboard dive vessel. The waters of the Barrier Reef system around Papua New Guinea are famous for their beauitful marine flora and fauna. Privileged divers marvel at the Eastern Fields atoll, the jewel of the Coral Sea, with its rich coral gardens, big animals and awesome visibility. Northern Papua New Guinea is a divers paradise. Experience spell-binding underwater action with thrilling drift dives and spectacular dives on historic WWII wrecks. There are many species of marine creatures endemic to Papua New Guinea, as well as a wide variety of nudibranch and frogfish. The operators of Golden Dawn are keen underwater photographers and videographers and are always happy to show their guests these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat. Constructed out of the finest timbers and beautifully refurbished throughout, Golden Dawn offers the most room per person at a length of eighty (80') feet, accommodating ten passengers in five individually air-conditioned, twin berth and double cabins. There are four guest bathrooms and two deck showers for quick rinses, and a fresh water maker insures that supplies are virtually unlimited. Her spacious saloon and partially covered upper deck area provide passengers with ample room to relax while waiting for the next incredible dive! Her electronic equipment includes radar, global positioning system (GPS), plotter, a sophiscated SSB radio, video depth sounder and auto pilot, and the state-of-the-art satellite telephone communication system. Also fitted are Naiad active fin stabilisers and statis "flopper stoppers" for even greater cruising comfort. The two dive tenders allow maximum flexibility and safety on dive sites. Golden Dawn is constantly being upgraded to meet the increasing standards required by international sport divers. She has recently been outfitted with 2 rebreathers and several nitrox units, allowing more bottom time with less risks for the advanced diver. Golden Dawn operates the Eastern Fields trips during April through June and October through December. During the months of January through March Golden Dawn voyages to Tufi where the famous B17 Flying Fortress "Black Jack" is considered the best airplane wreck in the world. From July through September Golden Dawn's 10-day cruises from Madang and Wewak take the divers to Hermit, Ninigo and Bagabag Islands where surprises such as manta rays, turtles, and on ocassion Orcas have been spotted. "Muck Diving" is also an opportunity to see some of the rare species. To kick the adrenline into overdrive, Golden Dawn's captain, Craig De Wit, has added some shark feeding that is truly a spectacular event.
