Sawasawaga Community School

The Sawasawaga Community School is located in Milne Bay area of Papua New Guinea. One of the "boys" who works on the boat came from this island of Sidiea. One morning on this particular trip in September 1996 as I was preparing for my first dive of the day, I noticed all these children canoeing past our boat. A few of them I invited over to have a candy or "lolly" as it is referred to in pidgin. I then asked the Captain, "where are these children going" and he told me, "to school". My eyes lit up and I quickly spoke up and said, "I want to go!" Soon after that first dive, I ventured with some of the Golden Dawn's crew up to the Sawasawaga Community School where I was welcomed by a lot of beautiful children. My visit was short, but since I returned home, I have received a letter from the headmaster. You are invited to read excerpts from this letter. Have a Great Day and Make A New Friend.
