Nikonos V

Nikonos V

The Nikonos V is capable of going to 50M and its large, high eye-point viewfinder allows you to see the entire field of view from up to 40mm away whilst wearing a mask. It also has a range of six interchangeable lens available. For extra precision, shutter speeds are quartz-controlled in manual mode.

The first model of this type was not a Nikonos at all. It was an underwater camera manufactured in France from a design by a Belgian engineer called Jean de Wouters, and was named the Calypsophot. It was sold in a box under the La Spirotechnique label; a small company dedicated to underwater equipment and formed by a gentleman called Yves Jacques Cousteau.
